I really wanted to love this camera as much as the 5-star reviewers. In fact, it was the high praise that made me buy it. However, it suffers from the typical problems most cameras in this price range do --slow shutter/write to disk speed and mediocre low light shooting.
I shoot mostly indoors, and I was taken in by all the reviewers who said this camera does great in low light conditions. Not my experience. I keep it set to "Auto" mostly because I'm not a photographer who fiddles with all the settings, so I was banking on the auto feature to sort out poor lighting, but probably 30% of my indoor shots are blurry (I have a pretty steady hand) and/or over-exposed from the flash. And the time it takes to write an image to the disk (I use a high-end SanDisk Extreme III SD card)is aggravating. The pause is at least 3 seconds, which doesn't sound like a lot, but an eternity if you're trying to capture events quickly (without having to use the continuous fire mode).
Also, I thought I wouldn't miss having a view finder to look through, but I was wrong. If you use this outside in bright light, the LCD is nearly useless. Taking a picture with the LCD in bright light is a crap-shoot guesstimate.
Anyway, it's not the worst camera I've owned in this price range, but I'm still looking for the best in this price range, and I don't think this is it.
Love my new camera! August 27, 2010 books-a-bazillion (NC) This a great little point-and-shoot camera. Compact, lightweight, and easy to use. Picture quality is excellent. I tried some cheaper point-and-shoot cameras and they felt flimsy and plastic. This feels like it won't break the first week you own it. Shutter speed is a tiny bit slow, but still better than my old camera. I recommend this camera if you want a decent one for a small price.
Excellent camera for its price August 23, 2010 S. Vogt I just wanted a nice, simple, compact point and shoot that took great pictures but doesn't cost and arm and a leg. This camera is excellent. It takes decent photos in all lighting conditions, and is very simplistic in its operation. The shutter speed is ok, too. Maybe not as fast as some but better than some Canons I have used before. If you just want a basic, competent point-and-shoot and don't need HD video or any or the advanced features - this is a must-buy and a good value.

We needed this camera for the upcoming visit of relatives. It did not arrive on time and the package was severely crushed resulting in damage to the camera and the charger. Because of the damage we bought a camera at Walmart that day and returned the original camera to Amazon.

Bought camera for trip to Costa Rica and it was absolutely the best camera I've used on a trip. Never had any problems with the camera, but would highly suggest purchasing a memory card with a speed of at least 8. It's great to have so you can take faster pictures.
