5 out of 5 stars Greta Camera, Great Pics, Great videos   September 9, 2010
RDowns (Springville, Utah)
Bought this Camera to take on my 3 week grand canyon rafting trip and it worked great.
The battery is supposed to get you about 350 pictures per charge and I took two batteries. I ended up with 277 pictures and lots of video and the camera said i had room for 24+ minutes more video or around 450 + more pics and the 2nd battery still had juice. The memery card was an 8gb class 6 card. I should have bought a bigger or 2nd card and another battery. I took a bunch of pictures before I left on the trip to test the battery and got over 400 pics ( All at 14MP )
The only complaint I have on this camera is how easily the screen got scratched up. I had it in my pocket unless I was taking a pic or videoing and the view screen is very scuffed up. Its not so bad you cant look at the pics but with the camera off it looks like ive had this camera for years.
I LOVE the rubber case that comes with it.
Lots of great features, many of which I havent had a chance to use yet. The ocal camera shop sells this camera for $397.00 and I got it from amazon for $299.00

I didnt have any problems with jittery video while videoing as we went down the rapids except once bu I was moving all over the place while tying to video and recover a flipped raft and its crew. I did notice that while videoing rapids from shore that when I panned left or right sometimes I went a bit to fast and the video got fuzzy. I was using the highest quality HD video settings.

ALSO When I got the camera I went into the setting and set video mode to MPEG in stead of AVCHD but when I got home all the video was in AVCHD. I discovered that you ALSO have to set the same settings again in IA mode. Luckily it was easy to convert the AVCHD to MPEG or JPEG using the move to medea button on the software that came with the camera. It actually turned out better because now I have a DVD in ACVHD HIGH DEF mode that I can watch on my panasonic tv or my panasonic blue ray player (the video in ACVHD format looks awesome on my 50 inch Panasonic TV)AND I have another dvd in Mpeg format to share with friends.

5 out of 5 stars Love the waterproof and silicon skin. Love the video and picture.   September 5, 2010

Silicon skin makes handling the camera much easier: put it down on the rocks and cements, a little banging here and there, provides good grip. It does make it more difficult to take it out of your pocket though. Waterproof feature is fantastic. I am paying attention to keep the seals clean, and I have not had any problem so far, though I have not gone into any depth other than a few feet. Excellent experience at the water parks, except you do somehow have to clean off the water drops off of the lens for quality shots afterward. Oh, sound is often muffled for some time after you come out of the water, too. I have been using 16GB Class 6 card without any problem. It was big enough for our 3N/4Day Disney World vacation with as many video clips and still photos. This is my first video capable subcompact digital camera, so it took more attention to keep the camera steady during video recording than full size camcorders. I think I agree with the other review where it said, if you are moving, like on a boat or safari tour bus in my case, image stabilization is no use. But overall, very happy with the camera itself and photo/videos from it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Camera   September 5, 2010
Stoneface
Purchased the camera for a vacation in Jamaica this month (Sept. 2010). The camera took wonderful pictures both in and out of water. Went snorkling and the pictures came out very clear. No problems with leaking. Very pleased.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Digital Camera   September 4, 2010
MizRee
My husband bought this camera for me because I am prone to breaking cameras so when we saw Whoopi Goldberg toss the camera across the stage on The View and dunk it in water he knew it was the right camera for me. We live in Hawaii and do a lot of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, cliff diving, etc so we needed a camera that could stand up to salt water and sand but still take quality photos and video. I had the camera for almost a full year when I noticed some condensation in the LCD view screen and lens screen so I sent the camera in for repair and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Panasonic sent me the newest model of the camera. The newest model (2010) comes with a rubber camera skin, USB cord, video cords and upgraded software. My only con is that I cannot find anywhere whether or not the LCD view screen is scratch proof which would seem like an obvious feature since this camera is advertised as a rugged camera. I highly recommend this camera for anyone accident prone with camera's and for anyone who enjoys doing outdoor activities.

4 out of 5 stars Really good camera   August 30, 2010
PierreH
This is a really good camera. It's still a little bit expensive... And I still think that it would be better with something to prevent it from sinking but I really like this camera, it is very convenient and the photos are of very good quality.
