5 out of 5 stars Best camera under $200   August 14, 2010

I got a Z2000 six weeks ago and have already filled 10GB of memory with the highest res shots and HD video. I used it on a 3-wk vacation in the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Cody, WY. It was always around my neck as I drove, hiked, and biked, and it proved as tough as it's predecessor (I've used a Casio S600 for over five years, mostly on mountain biking trips in the Alps, taking thousands of shots and videos with it, and, though it looks like it's been in a war, it still works like new!).

This camera is almost as small and light as the S600, and just as easy to use even though it has a good number of new features. The wide angle lens (26mm), the 5x optical zoom, and the HD video were the main reasons I bought it. The fotos and videos are great, but you use up memory in a hurry at 14mp and with HD video, so you'll need 4gb or 8gb SD cards (at least two), preferably class 4 or 6 SDHC type for speed. Unless you need poster sized prints, you can set the resolution to 6mb or so, which is fine for 8x10 prints, and you'll get way more shots per SD card.

One new feature I really loved is the "oil painting" setting. This lets you take a shot looking (a bit) like Van Gogh may have painted it. The watercolor and crayon settings are worthless, though. I hope Casio fixes these and provides a download for them soon.

I went back and forth between the Z2000 and the new Casio H15, and chose the Z2000 for the smaller size and lighter weight since it hangs around my neck. My companion on the trip had just bought the H15, and it was a surprise to both of us. It has a wider lens (24mm), a 10x optical zoom, and even more features. It also has the "oil painting" mode. We were both amazed at the quality of his photos. On top of that, the H15 LCD screen is TWICE the resolution of the Z2000's (both are 3" in size), and it's SUPERB. And his flash had an incredible range. And his battery lasts twice as long (though the Z2000 is no slouch).

So now I wish I'd bought the H15. It is about $85 more than the Z2000, so I'd say that if size or cost (or color) is an issue, get the Z2000. You'll love it. Otherwise, go for the H15 and be blown away by what you can do with it. And don't forget the neck cord. I've never dropped a camera (or cell phone or monocular) since I've been using these cords (for over 15 years of mountain biking). Here's a good cord on Amazon: Targus Digital TGK-NS Digital Camera Neck Strap.

I bought this 14 megapixel point and shoot digital camera about a month ago and have been playing with it since then. It is the fifth Casio I have owned (upgraded with each new generation) and have always been thrilled with the results. This camera is no different. Full of nice features it's easy to use and the images are stunning. I would highly recommend this camera.

Just got this camera today and...I love it already! I did a lot of research and finally settled on this model based on other user and editor reviews. Such a fun camera with lots of settings options so you CANNOT go wrong with any exposure! Very very easy to use and fits in your pocket, your purse, wherever, whenever! I'm an experienced photographer and was looking for a good picture quality, point and shoot. I found it in this camera!
