Product Description
Panasonic DMC-TS2 Digital Camera Features

The DMC-TS2 is shockproof, waterproof, dustproof and newly added freezeproof in design with the capability to record high-definition movie in AVCHD Lite. Featuring a 28mm wide-angle lens, 4.6x optical zoom and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, this versatile camera lets you capture your moments no matter what the intended shooting terrain is. Swim along with tropical fish and capture shots of beautiful coral reefs, or take recordings of your friends around a camp fire. The DMC-TS2 is an extremely versatile camera that you can take with you wherever the action calls.

Shockproof
The DMC-TS2 is dropproof from a height up to 6.6ft in accordance with the MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock test standard. It lets you shoot actively while moving around with the camera in one hand.

Waterproof
With waterproof performance to a depth of 33ft equivalent to the IEC60529 IPX8 standard, the DMC-TZ2 supports active shooting on a beach, underwater or in a pool. If the camera gets dirty, soil and dust can be washed off by using water.

Freezeproof
With freezeproof to -10 degrees C/14 degrees F, the DMC-TS2 supports shooting while skiing, snowboarding or skating.

Dustproof
The DMC-TS2 is dustproof equivalent to the IEC60529 IP6X standard. While hiking or playing sports, fine dust particles can enter through gaps in the camera body and cause malfunction. The DMC-TS2 can be used in these activities without problems.

HD Movie in AVCHD Lite and LED Light
In addition to Motion JPEG images, the DMC-TS2 can record high-definition motions images in AVCHD Lite. It features almost double the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format.

Intelligent Resolution Technology
The image quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the new image processing technology Intelligent Resolution*1, incorporated in the Venus Engine HD II for the DMC-TS2. By d

5 out of 5 stars Love the waterproof and silicon skin. Love the video and picture.   September 5, 2010
FlyingPig
Silicon skin makes handling the camera much easier: put it down on the rocks and cements, a little banging here and there, provides good grip. It does make it more difficult to take it out of your pocket though. Waterproof feature is fantastic. I am paying attention to keep the seals clean, and I have not had any problem so far, though I have not gone into any depth other than a few feet. Excellent experience at the water parks, except you do somehow have to clean off the water drops off of the lens for quality shots afterward. Oh, sound is often muffled for some time after you come out of the water, too. I have been using 16GB Class 6 card without any problem. It was big enough for our 3N/4Day Disney World vacation with as many video clips and still photos. This is my first video capable subcompact digital camera, so it took more attention to keep the camera steady during video recording than full size camcorders. I think I agree with the other review where it said, if you are moving, like on a boat or safari tour bus in my case, image stabilization is no use. But overall, very happy with the camera itself and photo/videos from it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Camera   September 5, 2010
Stoneface
Purchased the camera for a vacation in Jamaica this month (Sept. 2010). The camera took wonderful pictures both in and out of water. Went snorkling and the pictures came out very clear. No problems with leaking. Very pleased.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Digital Camera   September 4, 2010
MizRee
My husband bought this camera for me because I am prone to breaking cameras so when we saw Whoopi Goldberg toss the camera across the stage on The View and dunk it in water he knew it was the right camera for me. We live in Hawaii and do a lot of outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, cliff diving, etc so we needed a camera that could stand up to salt water and sand but still take quality photos and video. I had the camera for almost a full year when I noticed some condensation in the LCD view screen and lens screen so I sent the camera in for repair and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Panasonic sent me the newest model of the camera. The newest model (2010) comes with a rubber camera skin, USB cord, video cords and upgraded software. My only con is that I cannot find anywhere whether or not the LCD view screen is scratch proof which would seem like an obvious feature since this camera is advertised as a rugged camera. I highly recommend this camera for anyone accident prone with camera's and for anyone who enjoys doing outdoor activities.

4 out of 5 stars Really good camera   August 30, 2010

This is a really good camera. It's still a little bit expensive... And I still think that it would be better with something to prevent it from sinking but I really like this camera, it is very convenient and the photos are of very good quality.

3 out of 5 stars Handy, but with a couple of design flaws   August 25, 2010
John Roberts (Frankfort MI)
I got this to replace an old Canon A80 for which I had a Canon underwater case. This Panasonic is feature laden, small, easy to use, with a nice view screen. It will go as deep as I ever need to go, and it's quick to start up. But, the quality of the image is nothing to write home about (and that is kind of the point of a camera, isn't it?), and you should NEVER carry it without the supplied silicone rubber sleeve it comes with. If you don't use the sleeve, the first thing to come in contact with rough or sharp surface is the viewing screen and the mode dial... both scratch rather easily when left on, say, the shelf of a golf cart while driving around for 9 holes. A truly tough design wouldn't leave these surfaces in harm's way.
